These technologies are scaleable, economical, generally environmentally friendly, and are applicable in preserving and enhancing the nutritional quality and safety of foods. Optimisation of bioreactor processes and improvement of the quality of biological inoculants applied in bioprocessing, pose major challenges to the development of bioprocessing technologies in developing countries. "
