Is Myers the Right Person

From Utter Wonder: The Idle Thoughts of C. Monk
"Subject #5: Animal, vegetable, or Bush crony?"

In 2005, when Julie Myers was nominated to head the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency, part of the Department of Homeland Security, some questioned her qualifications for the job. At that time 36 years old, Ms. Myers had little immigration or customs experience. Eventually she assumed the job following a recess appointment by President George W. Bush on January 4, 2006.

According to Wikipedia:
Myers was formerly the Assistant Secretary for Export Enforcement at the Department of Commerce. In that capacity, she oversaw 170 employees and a $25 million budget. She is also the niece of former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Richard Myers, and is the wife of John F. Wood, the current U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri and the former chief of staff for the Secretary of Homeland Security.
Now that the Congress is having troubles compromising on an acceptable immigration bill, and the Bush administration is having difficulties getting Republican legislators to support the administration's position on the legislation, I wonder whether a more experienced, respected and expert leader for the Customs and Immigration Enforcement Agency would have done better.
