Senate Leaders Agree to Revive Immigration Bill - New York Times:
"Senate Democratic and Republican leaders announced on Thursday that they had agreed on a way to revive a comprehensive immigration bill that was pulled off the Senate floor seven days ago."
Comment: Good news! Now lets hope that they can pass the bill this time. Certainly a compromise is going to be needed, and let us also hope that the Congress can pass a bill that will substantially improve the situation. We need:
- to regularize the status of the illegal immigrants who stay in the United States,
- to provide means to allow the long term and short term immigration needed for full operation of our economy, and
- to make the borders less permeable against terrorists and other unwanted and illegal immigrants and visitors. JAD
