ASSOCIATIONS RELATED TO SCIENTIFIC PUBLISHING

One task before the Knowledge for Development community is improving scientific and technological publishing in developing nations, and improving the publishing of S&T information related to the needs of developing nations and of the poor. An important organization in that respect is:

International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publications
INASP is a co-operative network of partners aiming to improve world-wide access to information.

I also list below four associations that are important in improving the editing of scientific and technological journals.

The Council of Science Editors
CSE's mission, according to its website, "is to promote excellence in the communication of scientific information. It seeks "to serve members in the scientific, scientific publishing, and information science communities by fostering networking, education, discussion, and exchange and to be an authoritative resource on current and emerging issues in the communication of scientific information." The website has many useful materials related to science publishing.
