Henrietta Holsman Fore to Head USAID & Foreign Assistance Program

Henrietta Fore
President Bush intends to nominate Henrietta Holsman Fore to be Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development; he has designated her to be the Acting Administrator. Ms. Fore currently serves as Under Secretary (Management) at the Department of State. Prior to this, she served as 37th Director of the United States Mint at the Department of the Treasury. Earlier in her career, she served as Assistant Administrator of USAID for Private Enterprise and subsequently as Assistant Administrator for Asia. Ms. Fore received her bachelor's degree from Wellesley College and her master's degree from the University of Northern Colorado. Fore was a founder of the Financial Services Volunteer Corps, Chairman and President of Stockton Wire Products. She served on the Corporate Boards of the Dexter Corporation and HSB Group Inc., both listed on the NYSE. Henrietta has a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Wellesley College and a Master of Science degree in Public Administration from the University of Northern Colorado. She has also studied International Politics at Oxford University and studied at Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

Fore replaces Randall Tobias as the Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Tobias was also the first United States Director of Foreign Assistance, serving concurrently with the rank of Ambassador until he resigned on April 27, 2007. Fore has also been appointed acting Director of Foreign Assistance by the Secretary of State, following her appointment to USAID.
