Factoid: Oil and Coercive Governments

Source: Foreign Policy

"Among the world’s top 15 oil-exporting countries, only Mexico and Norway achieve a 'free' rating from Freedom House. Three countries in the top 15—Kuwait, Nigeria, and Venezuela—are deemed “partly free,” with the remaining 10 receiving the lowest rating of “not free.” None of the top three exporters—Saudi Arabia, Russia, and the United Arab Emirates—gets high marks for civil liberties or political freedoms."
