Scientists Without Borders
The New York Academy of Sciences and the United Nations Millennium Project conceived of founding Scientists Without Borders, and the organization is now supported by a number of volunteers and partners. The organization "aims to mobilize and coordinate science-based activities that improve quality of life in the developing world." It has launched a Web portal for which the cornerstone is a database that serves as a digital repository for information on resources and needs for the application of science to development and poverty reduction. The organization is focusing on areas such as global health, agricultural progress, and environmental well-being.
