New results on demographic transitions
The Economist this week features an article based on the work of Mikko Myrskyla suggesting that the link between development and fertility is changing, and more developed nations are seeing an increase in fertility rates. The demographic transition may eventually result in a world of richer nations with static populations. There may be a large increase, followed by a small decrease before that static level is achieved.
