Hope for new drugs against viral infections

My son alerted me to this report of a new approach to anti-viral drugs pioneered by MIT researchers. It is great news, suggesting new lines of research for a great many communicable viral diseases. Of course, there is a lot of work still to be done before the approach is reduced to practice, including developing drugs for human use, finding ways to deliver the drugs to infected cells, demonstrating the safety of the drugs in animals and in humans, demonstrating their efficacy in curing infections, demonstrating their effectiveness in large scale trials, and assuring that there are no adverse environmental impacts of their use in public health. Don't give up your schedules of immunization for a few years yet!
