The employment figures indicate that unemployment remains a key problem for our economy, and the President is clearly right that we more need government support for employment as soon as possible. Like most of the country I am angry with the Congress in its gridlock and unwillingness to find compromises for the benefit of the country. As I have posted in the past, the debt is a long term problem, best solved by a combination of growing the economy (by increasing production of goods and services and allowing reasonable inflation) and by cutting deficits (by reducing the rate of growth of government expenditures and increasing government revenues).
Now is the time for the Congress to get its act together and do something for the country. Obama in his speech tonight asked for public support, and he has mine.
