An interesting graph

My friend Julianne sent me a link to this graph:

Think about this. In the 2012 years of the current era, almost a quarter of all economic output occurred in the 21st century. As population growth has exploded, more than five percent of all person years of life were also in this century. I wonder how much of our schooling is devoted to helping kids to understand what has happened in the 20th and 21st centuries. How much is devoted to helping them understand what has happened to the majority of the people who live in Asia and Africa?
