Do you know what a "data scientist" is? No, then check out this article pointed out to me by my friend Julianne.
There are scientists who work primarily with data, such as those involved in bioinformatics and some astronomers (who work with data from telescopes continents away) and physicists who work with data from massive experiments continents away. However, I would not call people who analyze marketing data commercially nor those who analyze data for politicians "scientists".
